Offered for purchase is a biographical timeline of Henry Brooks Adams’s life compiled from all six volumes (4,180 individual letters) of The Letters of Henry Adams, Edited by Levenson, Samuels, Vandersee, and Winner, and over thirty published print and digital media resources ranging from The Education of Henry Adams to the Massachusetts Historical Society. The timeline documents significant events in HBA’s life, his publications, and notable concurrent events defining his world.
The timeline is a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet comprising seventy-seven vertical double-stacked columns. Each full-height column comprises one year in HBA’s life, from 1838 to 1919, with separate columns identifying each of his publications in the year they occurred. The index of Initials & Abbreviations notes over 300 people, places, and events, including a list of relevant siblings and offspring. A source bibliography completes the catalog.
